When it is needed
Severe or throbbing pain, pain at night, lingering sensitivity to hot and cold, swelling or a darkening tooth can mean the nerve is affected. Sometimes the inflammation causes no pain and only shows up on an X-ray.
How it works
Treatment is done under local anaesthetic. The inflamed tissue is removed, and the root canals are cleaned, disinfected and sealed. Where needed, Dr. Kirov uses a rubber dam — a thin sheet that keeps the tooth dry and clean during treatment.
Depending on the tooth, treatment may take one or more visits.
After treatment
A root-treated tooth is more fragile, so it is restored afterwards — with a filling or, if a lot of the tooth is missing, a crown. Dr. Kirov will discuss the best option with you.
